1982 was the last and arguably the most beautiful of Third Generation Corvette production. To honor the 82's special status, Chevrolet offered a "Collector Edition". In addition to a higher level of standard features on base models, the Collector Edition had a lifting hatchback glass, a Corvette first, special alloy wheels styled to resemble the 1967 "bolt-on" optional wheels, unique silver-beige paint, a five shaded silver-beige leather interior, and special cloisonne` emblems. The Collector Edition Hatchback Coupe carried a specially coded VIN number and was the first Corvette with a base price exceeding $20,000. This particular Collector Corvette is very highly optioned making it one of the most expensive Third Generation Corvettes ever produced.
