    Gateway Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1961 C1 Chevrolet Corvette a "transitional" masterpiece that blended the classic curves of the 1950s with a bold preview of the 1963 Stingray. The quad taillight, This car has been with the current owner for over 35 years. This was the first year for the four round taillights, a design choice that became a Corvette signature for over 50 years. The "toothless" front grille: Designers removed the heavy chrome "teeth" found on previous grilles, replacing them with a sleek silver mesh. Exhaust evolution, for the first time, exhaust pipes exited under the rear body instead of through the chrome bumper, which kept the bumpers cleaner from exhaust soot. Modern Cooling: It was the first model to feature an aluminum crossflow radiator as standard equipment, improving performance while reducing front-end weight. The engine: end of the 283, 1961 was the final year for the legendary 283 cubic-inch V8. Also has the 4 speed manual option over the 3 speed. last of the two-tone: This was the last time buyers could order contrasting paint colors for the side coves until 1978.
