Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to digitally present this slick 1968 Corvette Convertible. 1968 was the first year for the C3 or third generation of, "America's sportscar," and this one has it all. A triple black, chrome bumper, side pipe, 4-speed, are you kidding me! Under the hood is a mean spirited (3914678) NM 327/350 HP L79 that was recently tuned, had the carb rebuilt, and a HEI distributor installed. Before bringing the car to us, the owner had new brakes installed, the starter replaced, a new clutch assembly installed along with new Cooper Cobras. The black paint job is so good you'd swear it was dipped which is why we parked this beauty in the main showroom here at Tampa. This '68 definitely has the right look and absolutely has the right sound. What sounds better than a Corvette with side pipes? A few side notes - The owner does have the original steering wheel that goes with the car and a new shifter boot that just needs to be installed. The wipers and blower motor are currently not working but just in case you're wondering, the headlights work great. For the money, you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer, better running and driving C3 than this black beauty.

Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. The 1968 Chevrolet Corvette marks the birth of the third generation, known as the C3, a turning point in the Corvette's lineage. That year, Chevrolet introduced a completely redesigned body, reimagined interior, and new roof options. Coupes gained removable T-top roof panels and a removable rear window, allowing for a semi-open air experience. The front styling adopted a longer, more pointed nose, with vacuum-operated hideaway headlights and flush door handles with push-button releases. Behind the front wheels are functional louvers, and a new ventilation system dubbed "Astro-Ventilation" was added. Before you is an orange 1968 Corvette that carries those C3 hallmarks boldly. Its exterior orange paint catches light so that the sweeping curves-from the coved fenders to the rear hips-stand out in every direction. The roof includes T-tops, which when removed open up the cabin overhead for a fresh air drive. The profile shows the front fender vents and the stretched silhouette, recalling how Chevrolet reshaped the Corvette for that model year. Inside the car, the interior is trimmed in black vinyl. The seats, dashboard, and door panels present that classic contrast of the bold exterior and darker cabin. A working AM/FM radio resides in the dash, offering that period-appropriate sound. On the safety front there are seat belts provided for occupants. Mechanically this Corvette is equipped with a V8 engine mated to a manual transmission. Power steering aids control and maneuvering, and power brakes are fitted. The wheels wear hub caps over radial tires that accent the car's footprint, and the overall stance gives a sense of the Corvette's sporting ambitions without overstatement. This is a car that embodies the 1968-C3 Corvette style features: the aggressive lines, the dramatic roof options, the presence of performance-oriented systems like power steering and brakes, and the interior designed for driver engagement. If you appreciate automotive design, collectible value, or simply the joy of driving a Chevrolet classic, this orange 1968 Corvette shows a lot of what makes that generation special.

Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this rare L89 1968 Chevrolet Corvette, presented in the stunning LeMans Blue exterior color. Regular Production Option (RPO) L89 first became available with the 1967 Corvette. What made it special is that it added the competition heads from the all-aluminum L88 427, along with an aluminum intake topped by three 2-barrel carbs on the base L71 427 CID V8. The result was a very potent 435HP/460TQ (SAE NET) rating from the factory. Only 624 of the 1968 Corvette production were equipped with the rare factory aluminum head L89 RPO code option. In total, only about 1030 Corvettes were built with the L89 option code, which was only offered from 1967-1969, so they are quite hard to find. This classic muscle car reportedly has some notable originality - with the numbers on the engine block stamp pad corresponding to the VIN, along with the stamping on the transmission and properly coded rear end (note that we don't have a lift to verify the last two elements, but are reporting information provided to us, as well as can be found by searching on its VIN). This sleek Corvette absolutely embodies the spirit of the 1960s with its bold design and powerful performance capabilities. Under the hood lies the legendary L89 427 CID V8 engine, promising an exhilarating driving experience that is effortlessly managed through the Muncie 4-Speed manual transmission, which gets all that grunt to the 3.70:1 Posi-equipped rear end. If you aren't careful, you'll go through a lot of rear tires. Then again, that's half the fun of having one of these manual transmission big block Corvettes (well, for some of us)! Slip inside to discover a cabin that nicely complements the striking exterior. The black interior is designed with synthetic leather seating that balances comfort and heritage. Modern conveniences, such as power windows and power steering, enhance the driving experience while maintaining an authentic feel. The inclusion of 4-wheel power disc brakes underscores the focus on drivability and control, making every journey smooth and enjoyable. As for entertainment, the AM/FM radio provides a nod to period-correct audio while ensuring you have access to your favorite tunes. The exterior boasts hub caps and the classic redline bias ply tires, emphasizing the timeless aesthetic appeal of this Corvette. Safety features like seatbelts are thoughtfully included, rounding out the driving experience with practicality. The distinctive T-tops provide an open-air driving experience that lets you enjoy the thrill of the road to its fullest.
