Car features an LS7 engine with 505 hp, SRIII tubular powder-coated chassis, Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and C4 QA1 coilover suspension with rack and pinion power steering.

Other key components include: High capacity Dewitt polished aluminum radiator with twin high cool electric fans; ABS power brakes with 13.5" drilled and slotted Baer disc brakes; one-off California custom knock-off aluminum wheels (17" front, 18" rear) riding on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires with less than 500 miles; carbon fiber drive shaft; original teak steering wheel; cruise control; power hood opener with remote; power antenna; chrome and stainless steel trim in perfect condition; front of car has Mylar protective film; Memphis remote controlled radio mounted behind working original radio with Ipod, USB port and FM capabilities; all original gauges calibrated to match the LS7 engine; original clock redone in quartz movement and Xenon high-intensity discharge headlights.

This 1967 Corvette Convertible 427/435HP was produced on and 4/2/1967 sold new at Gates Chevrolet in Mishawaka, Indiana according to its NCRS Shipping Data Report.

All cars have stories, some more elaborate than others, and this Corvette has one of the most interesting stories we have ever heard. It is all spelled out in the extensive documentation and owner history.

A prominent businessman in the metals and foundry industry purchased this car new off the showroom floor for his son, who was soon to attend one of the most prestigious Catholic universities in the country, Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. The agreement was that, as long as his son maintained good grades, the Corvette would be his. However, if his grades were failing, the Corvette would be taken away, and he would be driving a Volkswagen instead.

As the first semester came to an end, so did the student's ownership of the Corvette, as his grades were indeed failing. Instead of bestowing the Corvette upon his son, the father donated (!) the Corvette to the priests of Notre Dame, and his son never regained possession of it. Instead, he drove a Volkswagen.

The Corvette eventually passed through several hands before ending up with Jay, an NCRS member who was very persistent in tracing the ownership of his newly acquired Corvette back to the original owner. He sought any information that could lead him to the original owner.

After many letters to the DMV and the priests of Notre Dame, Jay was put in contact with a man at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, who connected him with the original owner's son—the one who first owned the Corvette while in college. (All of this correspondence is detailed in the documentation provided with the car). Prior to owning this Corvette, Jay had owned a 1965 Corvette Fuel Injected Coupe, which turned out to be counterfeit. Therefore, it was his top priority to ensure that this car was 100% legitimate before beginning the restoration. That's why all the time and effort were important to him.

Jay restored the Corvette and took it around the judging circuit. Since then, it has passed through the hands of some collectors and eventually ended up in the collection of Ron from Ontario, Canada. Ron also took the car around the national judging circuit, where it received an NCRS Top Flight Award, Bloomington Gold OEM Award, MCACN Gold Concourse Award, and a MCACN Triple Diamond Award. This Corvette also comes with an NCRS-validated Tank Sticker and a CCAS Crank Case Affirmation Certificate.

Originally assembled on April 29, 1964, this BODY-OFF RESTORED 1964 Corvette Convertible is in nice condition, has been in the hands of just one family since new, and features desirable power steering. This car's paint is good-vg, with a stunning shine. Convertible top is avg, and front chrome bumpers show a good condition finish, and  rear chrome bumpers show an avg-good finish. Taillights are vg, and weatherstripping is good-vg. Correct style hubcaps are in place, and Coker Classic Travelstar radial whitewall tires show an average of 11/32nds (100%) tread depth remaining. The interior of this 1964 Corvette Convertible shows good condition seats, vg dash pods, door panels, center console, and seatbelts, and good-vg carpet. Correct appearing AM/FM radio is in place. The numbers matching 327ci engine this car shows original casting date March 3, 1964, and final assembly date April 22, 1964. Correct air cleaner, intake manifold, valve covers, and ignition shielding are all in place, and the frame is solid and rust-free.
